Super blood wolf moon 2019: NYC lunatics prep for rare cosmic event

NYC lunatics are howling in advance of Sunday night’s super blood wolf moon.

Joel Benjamin, 36, is hosting a blood moon altar ritual workshop at a bookstore in BedStuy for the cosmic event. The Crown Heights resident says his Jewish ancestors inspired him to do so, because religious texts talk of a “blood moon” bringing prophecy fulfillment.

“If it’s a total lunar eclipse, you gotta jump on that,” he said, citing the rare “energy” the event releases for prayer.

At Lincoln Center Plaza, the Amateur Astronomers Association of New York is bringing their telescopes for a free observation party. Club president Peter Tagatac, 55, compared the eclipse to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

“[I] get a kick out of it,” he said. “There’s a community thrill around it,” says the Columbus Circle resident, who expects a big crowd tomorrow night, especially around 11:40 p.m., when the eclipse begins its totality.

Lisa Gardner, 55, of Riverdale, is celebrating with a moon-themed karaoke party at a neighborhood bar, where she hopes to sing “Total Eclipse of the Heart.”

“The geometry of the sun, the Earth and the moon fascinates me,” the self-proclaimed “science nerd” told The Post. “I’m thrilled at the idea there’s a moment where everything lines up perfectly.”
