As the consumption of interactive video is increasing exponentially now and is predicted to continue into the future, broadcast operators must deploy next generation fiber management systems and technologies to keep up this unprecedented demand. Broadcast facilities need to deploy more fiber, manage that fiber more efficiently and make more connections in limited spaces.
For the first time in the U.S, HUBER+SUHNER will be showcasing its new cross-connect fiber management system, LISA Double Access, at NAB Show 2019. With outstanding features such as higher density, modularity and a clear segregation point, the system is efficient, reliable and easy to manage, minimizing potential damage to delicate fiber cabling.
By separating incoming and outgoing connectivity, the LISA Double Access manages and protects maximum density of 7200 fibers per rack. The system allows a universal patch cord length of 3.5 meters within a new 5 foot rack, saving customers up to 17% of valuable floor space.
“With ever-increasing rates of consumer adoption of high-quality TV, the evolution of video standards with the migration to HD and emergence of 4K/8K, the broadcast industry is having to evolve rapidly. This combined with the adoption of IPTV and TV services over the Internet and OTT services means broadcast operators need to look at their networks” said Tony Walker, Business Development Manager at HUBER+SUHNER.
He added: “Due to the nature of today’s network infrastructures, the moving, adding and changing of cables is constant. We wanted to develop a tool to make our customer’s lives easier. The new LISA Double Access is a simple and easy-to-use fiber management solution and we look forward to showcasing its benefits at NAB Show 2019.”
On display alongside the LISA Double Access will be the second generation IANOS® fiber management system. Providing operators with the basic and essential building blocks for the future-ready data center, IANOS® can be tailored to each user with a pay-as-you-grow approach. IANOS® enables the use of flexible and future-proof pre-terminated cable systems with Base-2 up to Base-24 connectivity for the best-in-class density and scalability as well as easy and fast installation. Data rates from 1G to 400G can be achieved and seamlessly integrated to provide ultimate flexibility for the operator.
HUBER+SUHNER fiber management systems can also integrate the industry-leading Polatis technology. The high-capacity optical switching eliminates the need for time-consuming and costly manual intervention. The range of services switches adds an autonomous optical layer of 1+1, 1:1 and 2×2 bypass protection to multiple duplex services in a compact, high density form factor.
The latest additions to the HUBER+SUHNER fiber management portfolio allows broadcast operators to future-proof their fiber management systems and technologies to keep up with ever-increasing connectivity and bandwidth demands.
