You joined an actors’ agency, Frog Management, at the age of 11 after being noticed at a ‘Drama With A Difference’ workshop performance in Melbourne. From then onward you started off on the journey of acting at a tender age of 11 what drew you towards acting? What was your parent’s reaction?

Emily Milburn

I was lucky to have an amazing drama teacher named Mr Bell at my junior school, he had worked a lot himself in Australian Television as an actor. He always encouraged me to be creative, allowing me to form dance groups, perform in plays and musicals. I was always involved in music, art and ballet out of school too, both my parents are artists. Mr Bell tried to convince my Mum that I should get an acting agent, but my mum was very protective, and she didn’t want to be a stage mother, she was only convinced after she saw how much I loved acting classes, where I spent a lot of time learning the craft as a junior. Soon after that I was signed up to an agency and I began going to regular auditions. It was those early years where I discovered my passion and with my determination to do it, I made it happen.
